Pashmina vs Regular Wool

A genuine Pashmina is more than just a shawl; it's a piece of Kashmiri heritage. Unlike regular sheep wool, Pashmina is sourced from the soft undercoat of the Changthangi goat, found at altitudes above 14,000 feet.

• Fineness: Pashmina fibers are between 12-15 microns, whereas regular wool is often above 20 microns. This makes it incredibly soft and light.
• Warmth: Despite being thinner, Pashmina is significantly warmer than standard wool due to its unique insulation properties.
• The Ring Test: A pure, hand-spun Pashmina shawl is so fine it can easily pass through a small wedding ring.

At Elhan, we strictly avoid machine-made replicas. Every shawl in our collection is hand-spun and handwoven on traditional wooden looms by artisans in Downtown Srinagar and rural clusters. A single intricate shawl can take anywhere from weeks to months to complete.
